Paving Materials

Asphalt

  • Durability: Durable, quiet, long-lasting
  • Maintenance: Affordable, periodical maintenance with minimum traffic disruption
  • Appearance: Most commonly used in both residential and commercial applications because of its favorable characteristics.

Paving Stone

  • Durability:  Extremely flexible, decorative
  • Maintenance: Most stains are hidden in natural blended colors of pavers, or easily flipped or replaced at minimal expense
  • Appearance:Wide range of surface finishes, colors, shapes, and sizes. Wide variety of designs available.

Concrete

  • Durability:  Low flexibility. Cracks likely to occur over time.
  • Maintenance: Oil and Other Stains are difficult to remove. Repairs are noticeable and can be costly.
  • Appearance: Available in many colors. Can be colored throughout pour or on surface only

Flagstone

  • Durability: Individual, large stones allow for some flexibility. Likely to chip and/or crack.
  • Maintenance: Oil and other stains difficult to remove. Unique shapes of stones make difficult to match and replace.
  • Appearance: Limited to natural colors and shapes. Design styles run consistent.


Gravel

  • Durability: Flexible, but not permanent. Shifts over time. 
  • Maintenance: Regular replacement and leveling required. Ruts form relatively quickly.
  • Appearance: Limited to natural colors and shapes. Designs limited to existing layout.

Stamped Concrete

  • Durability: Low flexibility. Cracks likely to occur over time.
  • Maintenance: Oil and other stains difficult to remove. Cracks are likely to form over time, and repairs are noticeable.
  • Appearance: Stamped concrete may appear artificial. Stamp designs are increasing in popularity.
